Dx Summit Users: If you see my callsign listed as a spotter it is NOT me. Like many hundreds of other amateur radio operators my callsign was hijacked by somebody.  I am NOT a spotter on Dx Summit or any other service - user yes, spotter no.

Other hobbies: I am a pilot and fly an American Champion Explorer 7GCBC. I also fly R/C airplanes, R/C electric fan jets, and operate R/C power boats.

Sports: Fly fishing (partipant) and ice hockey (former participant, now on permament DL)

  • For CW on the K3 I use as my main key a Begali Magnetic Signature that I inherited from close friend K8WDN after he lost his battle with cancer in December 2013. I also use a P-4 Iambic Brass Key made by K8RA as well as a Vibroplex Iambic.
  • For CW on the KX3 I use a Bencher Iambic.
  • For CW for special events like Straight Key Nite I use a WW2 Key and Plug Assembly NR 8 with leg straps or a Vibroplex Champion bug from 1945 or a Monarch KY 102 (AKA Hi Mound BK 100).

  • I use the Timewave Navigator for CW (Winkeyer) and the Digital Modes (FSK RTTY, PSK, JT65, SSTV - digi and analog).
