Other occupations: I was part of the player development staff for the Columbus Clippers Baseball team when it was the AAA team of the New York Yankees. From 1990-2000 I was one of the PA announcers at the ballpark.

Other hobbies: I am a pilot and fly an American Champion Explorer 7GCBC. I also fly R/C airplanes, R/C electric fan jets,and operate R/C power boats.

  • Base station is an Elecraft K3 (SN 1179) with Elecraft KAT500 Tuner and Elecraft KPA 500 Amplifier into a KLM KT34A tribander or Classic Windom Dipole both up 60 feet.
  • Portable station is an Elecraft KX3 (SN 1962) into a Super Deluxe Buddipole system.
  • Mobile station is an ICOM 706 MKII into HamStik during winter and High Sierra Side Kicker during the non-salt on the road periods of time.

 

  • For CW on the K3 I use as my main key a P-4 Iambic Brass Key made by K8RA.
  • For CW on the KX3 I use a Bencher Iambic.
  • For CW for special events like Straight Key Nite I use a WW2 Key and Plug Assembly NR 8 with leg straps or a Vibroplex Champion bug from 1945 or a Monarch KY 102 (AKA Hi Mound BK 100).
