Click for more detail... I was first licensed as K0QBP in Kansas in 1958. After 30 years off the air, I was relicensed in May 2002 as KC9BRR, and became N9IV in July 2002. I am Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, where I am one of the faculty advisors for our club station, W9PU. I am also Vice President of Computelligence LLC. I often work QRP CW on 20, 30 and 40 meters. I also work PSK31, mainly on 20 meters. I particularly enjoy making contacts that are at least 1,000 miles per watt, so often run significantly less than 5 watts. I have an Elecraft KX1 and a K2. My FISTS number is 9233, CC 1411. My QRP ARCI number is 11796, NAQCC 3714, Flying Pig -488. I have earned QRP WAS and QRP DXCC. I especially enjoyed working QRP with my KX-1 from Ireland and England in 2005. I am now active on 6M (SMIRK #6777), and look forward to exploring 6M QRP. In 2008, I put a circa-1960 novice station on the air consisting of a Johnson Viking Adventurer transmitter and a Drake 2-B receiver; in 2009 I got a Drake 2-NT transmitter to go with the 2-B. I use a Himound straight key, a Vibroplex bug, or a Himound bug, also circa-1960, with this station. QSL either direct or via the bureau. For direct QSLs, SASEs are appreciated but not required. I am active in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. My primary research area is swarm intelligence. Last modified: Sat May 16 11:51:21 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
