I have been a Ham for over 38 years. I have held several calls, WL7HGL in Alaska, WN3VEX in Delaware, WN3VEX/VQ9 in Diego Garcia, KB4MIL in N.C. and then when I upgraded to extra I got the vanity call of NC4MI. I really like to work the contests and DX. I currently have 228 confirmed for my DXCC. My other hobbies are HO Scale model railroading. I presently have a 12 by 8 ft layout set up in our 2 car garage, plus I collect HO scale engines and passenger cars. I just completed an Amtrak Phase I Passenger Train set. I also sing in our Choir at Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church in Black Mountain, NC. My wife of 48 years (Marie)and I have lived in the area for 28 years and love the mountains of NC. We have 3 grown children, 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. I served 20 years in the military and retired in 1980. I have worked several Electronic Engineering jobs in the local area and went into full retirement in 2004 for medical reasons.
