Click for more detail... I was first licensed in 1984 as KA9RLR, while attending Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. I was always interested in amateur radio but didn't have a clue how to get started. I met Skip Walter, AD0H, a professor at WIU, and he patiently helped me through the licensing process. In 1985, I got the call NI9K, which I held until March of 2009. I've lived in Pennsylvania for 12 of the last 13 years so when this call became available, I made the change. I like to chase dx when I can. Over time I have collected 321 current "entities" (326 total) and recently completed the ARRL's Triple Play Award (#119). Love digital modes and enjoy working RTTY, PSK, and a little Hellschreiber. Station set up is a Yaesu FT-950 and an Ameritron AL811H when needed. My only HF antenna is a Butternut HF6V, 6 band verticle, in the back yard. For six meters, a KU4AB Loop only 18 feet off the ground. It works great when the band is open. Look forward to seeing you on the air. Last modified: Thu Jun 25 12:30:10 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
