You can call me Bill.
I also operate portable as NJ1H/7 occasionally. If you use LotW or eQSL, be sure to upload my call as NJ1H/7 to get a correct match. My most recent portable operation was December 2011 from Utah with a Radio Shack HTX-10, 25W 10M transceiver to a dipole on a deck about 15 feet up.
The picture is my home QTH with the crabapple tree in bloom. I have been grooming this tree for 31 years.
At the bottom of this page is a picture of my modest antenna farm.
160M through 6M:
Rig - Flex-5000A software defined radio with dual receivers. 100W maximum out.
160M - use 80M wire vertical with MFJ-949C tuner, not great, but use occasionally.
80M - wire vertical a bit greater than 1/4 wavelength with 1 elevated radial towards Europe. I trimmed the radial for best SWR.
60M - use 80M wire vertical with MFJ-949C tuner.
40M - use 80M wire vertical with MFJ-949C tuner.
30M - use 80M wire vertical with MFJ-949C tuner.
20M, 17M, 15M, 12M, 10M Cushcraft R5 vertical.
6M - Cushcraft A503S 3 EL Yagi.
2M and Up:
Flex-5000A with external 70cm and 2M transverters for full-duplex mode B and mode J satellite QSOs. Tokyo Hy-Power HL-725D amplifier, 50W max, for 2M and 70cm. SatPC32 software, LVB Tracker & Yaesu G-5400B elevation - azimuth controller.
Yaesu FT-736R for 222 MHz and 1.2 GHz.
Antennas:
2M - Crossed Cushcraft 10 element yagis with circular polarization switchable.
1.25M - 1/4 wave vertical in attic. 25W maximum.
70cm - Crossed KLM 9 element yagis with circular polarization switchable.
23cm - 45 element loop yagi. 10W maximum.
Computer is 2.33 GHz quad Q8200 CPU Running Windows 7. 4 GB memory. Dual 1920 x 1080 monitors.
Software:
DXLab's suite during normal operation and N1MM during contests.
vspMgr to create virtual serial cables and VAC to create virtual audio cables when using Flex-5000A.
No interconnect cables required with Flex-5000A when running digital modes, using CW keyer or voice keyer.
I operate SSB, CW, PSK, RTTY, SSTV, JT65, JT9, Satellite & whatever comes along.
All logs are uploaded to LoTW & eQSL at least weekly, usually sooner. QSL cards via bureau or direct.
SDR-1000 since Dec 2004, Flex5000 since May 2009. Software defined radios are great!

What a great hobby!

My modest antenna farm. You can work the world with a setup like this. The 80M wire vertical is in the pine trees to the right.

All 40 CQ zones confirmed.
