Valley Center is forty five miles northeast of San Diego. My wife and I have lived in the country for the past twenty years. We have eight acres of land and lots of room for antennas.
I lived in New York when I was first licenssed in 1954 I left the big apple in 1961 to Join the Marine Corps. I went to Parris Island, South Carolina for boot camp. After my recruit training, I was stationed in San Diego at MCRD. I was very fortunate to be one of the operators at W6YDK. The station handled written and phone patch traffic from Okinawa, Hawaii, and Vietnam. Also every recruit that arrived at MCRD filled out a form that was sent out on the Ham Bands notifying the relatives that they had arrived safely at MCRD. W6YDk was one of the earlty Navy MARS station. One of my pleasures was handling the written traffic and providing emergency communications. After my discharge from the Marine Corps. I stayed in San Diego
In 1969, I met my current wife of 42 years. ( Her call sign is KB6VFZ ) We are still in love and very happy. We have one daughter and three beautiful grandchildren. I am a member of OMIK and net control. I am also a SATERN net control. God bless
