Hello fellow friends radio amateurs!!
My name is Kurt and born on the 5th of September in 1977 in Wetteren – Belgium (Locator: JO11WA ). When I was 15 years old I started with the hobby on the CB-band. I got the radio microbe from a friend who had an old President in his room which he never used until I started turning the knob.
I soon bought myself a transceiver and started broadcasting.
The local CB band got me bored after a while and I switched the 11 meter band on USB/LSB, you could find me every day on the triple 5.
I got busted in 2000 when I was running a packet BBS with a continuous beacon that would sent out 500 Watt every 2 minutes to announce my packet-BBS.
That was a bummer, I lost all of my equipment and I was very disappointed.
3 years later I started again after getting my basic license for ham radio with the call ON3QRT ( I know unfortunate call-sign isn’t it , HI ) .
After transmitting for about a year and never been outside Belgium I sold my equipment and got me a ticket to travel to Spain. I really liked the traveling and saved my money every year for a new trip.
Years went by and suddenly …
I got myself a heart attack and I needed to cool thing down a bit, rest the doctor said.
Wondering what I would do to keep me calm but still busy I bought me again a transceiver, and another one and another one and another one.
Yeah it really got me this time!
So now we are here writing this little biography in 2013 and still busy with the Hobby!
My equipment for this moment is very simple.
I’m using a Yaesu FTDX-1200 Fully Loaded and a Magnetic Baby Loop from I3VHF and the other know standard equipment
The Loop isn’t that high from the ground, about 4 meters and the ground is only 6 meters above sea-level … but this radio and this antenna is doing a great job, I’m really happy with it and not changing it very soon.
For the wish list I have:
HEIL headset + Foot-Switch Yaesu FT-857D with ATAS-120A.(I owned the Yaesu before in the car, sold it and regretted it!)
A small mast/pylon from 3 X 4 meters with a winch
So … my story …
What is yours? Tell me if you get a hold of me on the band, let get us into a small QSO and not just number chasing.
Oh yeah … I confirm each and every QSO with a QSL card by the bureau or with Direct.
Please sent me one in return I collect the cards.
