I live in a small town called Ptuj, which lies in the North-East of Slovenia. Ptuj has about 23,000 inhabitants and is the oldest town of Slovenia. The first written mention of the town of Ptuj (Latin: Poetovio) was in 69 AD.
My first steps as radio amateur began in 1972 in the local radio club YU3DJK (now S59DJK). I got the first license in 1973 (I could work only on the radio station of the club), and in 1974 I got my own call sign YU3TXU. In 1985 I got a new call sign YU3MA. When Slovenia became independent in 1991, I got a new call sign S51MA. I do enjoy establishing communications with DX stations in CW and SSB mode, in recent years also in digital mode (RTTY and PSK). I have 352 countries in “mixed mode” confirmed, missing only P5. Currently I use an HF transceiver Kenwood TS-590S and TS-870S, amplifier is ACOM 2000A, the antenna is Optibeam OB16-3 (4 +4 +8) and an inverted V for 40M and 80M. The antennas are on the home made telescopic tower, 17m high. The tower is motor-driven. I receive QSL cards via bureau or directly to my home address. 73 de Zlatko
