***USE AND ENJOY MORSECODE OPERATION - FUNDAMENTAL TO HAMRADIO***

I was born 39 years ago and started out as a BC-SWL around the age of 8, received my novicelicence (morsecode 8 wpm) in 1989.

I live on the island of Gotland, IOTA EU-020 and hold the callsigns SM1TDE and SA1A. Moved back here in June 2003 after spending 12 years in Stockholm not being active as a HAM apart from clubactivities at SL0ZS).

I live with my XYL Sara and our daughters Embla and Hilda on an old farm where I have lots of space for antennas. I am using a Kenwood TS-480 with a ZZ-750-amplifier for 160-6m. Currently I have two towers up, one is 24m and carries a Force 12 C3 for 10/15/20m, a 5 el YAGI for 6m as well as dipoles for 80 and 160m. The other is 13m with a JP-beam for 17/12m on top. For 40 and 30m I have1/4-wave verticals.

I´m a keen CW-operator and QRV on all bands 160-6 meters. I have 323 countries worked and confirmed for DXCC. As an islander I enjoy IOTA and have over 600 islands confirmed.

Up until now does my various logs consist of over 165.000 QSO:s.

I have made a few DX-peditions:

SM1TDE/4U Lebanon 1993-94 (UNIFIL-soldier)

TF/SM1TDE Iceland 2002 (at TF8GX)

JW/SM1TDE Svalbard 2003 (at JW5E, with SM0BSO and SM0LQB)

5H3/SM1TDE Tanzania 2004 (with YL Sara)

SM1TDE/OA4 Peru 2005 (with YL Sara)

TA4/SM1TDE Turkey 2006 (QRP, with, now XYL Sara)

OJ0/SM1TDE Market Reef 2007 (with SM0BSO, SM0LQB and SM0EPO)

HS0ZHR Thailand 2007 (very few QSO:s made)

C56SMT The Gambia 2009-10 (family vacation, see picture!)

OH0/SM1TDE Åland islands 2011 (caravan vacation with XYL and kids)

As well as a couple of IOTA-expeditions to EU-037 and EU-084.

QSL is OK via the bureau (preferred) or direct if you are in a hurry. I still have logs and cards for YI9ZF and HN0Z (op. YL1ZF) if someone is in need.

I´m the editor of the DX-column in QTC magazine issued by SSA.

Not all me spare time is being spent in the shack. Our old house requires lots of maintenance and I also like being outside doing some hard manual labour!

Professionally I spend my days working as a teacher in history, civics and Swedish.

It is good to relax in front of the fireside reading and listen to some music. Favourites are Radiohead (but of course), Primal Scream, fellow Swedes The Soundtrack of our lives as well as Kings of Leon. A book by Ryszard Kapucinski can´t be wrong!

My father is SM1WXC, he became a HAM years after me and is currently not active.
