Born in 1947 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, in the UK, where my family farmed. I moved to Canada, at the age of 17, to Fort St John, mile 47 on the Alaska highway, then to Winnipeg. I also lived for a while in the USA, Chicago, and New York. Worked at later dates in Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Came to Sweden in 1970, where I passed my "A"cert, as SM7JKD,and also hold G4HUT. I held OZ1ESN too,in the early 80's.

I qualified in engineering in Sweden in the 70's, and worked most of my life in sales and marketing, eight years globaly with Analytical Instruments for food and feed research. Back in the UK, 1987, I owned and ran a printing and promotional business a few years, as well as a business in video wholesale and retail. Returning to Sweden in 1999, I started an industrial service business. I was later offered employment, in a similar field,by a local firm. I was 65 in Oct 2012, and retire Summer/Autumn 2013 .

Other interests are:

Air rifle target shooting at 50 Mtrs on my range at home (mostly a summer activity) . I use a German under lever springer, a Weihrauch HW97K 5.5mm (.22) with a Vortek PG2 kit (even smoother and less recoil) , an Airmax EV 4-12 x 50 AO scope, I obtain best groupings ( 50mm, or better) with German pellets from H&N, Field Target Trophy.

Veteran moped. I have an old Puch Maxi 1976, in excellent running order, which is used on a regular basis. It sleeps in the garage, and offers a lot of fun.

Gardening, together with my wife Gunn, long walks with our dog "Bosse," and I also enjoy a good book, and of course a bottle of wine.

I was active in motorsport for many years, circuit, (single seaters),sprinting and hillclimbing, ( Historic GT, and sports cars) , in Scandinavia and England.

Some cars: Mallock U2, (factory prototype, used by Mr A Mallock himself), Austin Healey 100M, (chassi up restoration by myself), MG Midget, (chassi up restoration by myself), Reynard FF2000,(modified for me, by Mr Roy Lane), Honda CRX V'tec ( modified at/by Janspeed) , and the last 8 years,a modified Porsche 911. I retired from motorsport in England 1997.

A keen DXer on 80, and 40 mtrs. For 80 mtrs, 3.770 to 3.800 mhz, from Nov to March. My antenna system is a Delta vertical phased array.Three free standing 1/4 wave verticals of my own design. Phasing systems by AA4MM, 1/8th wave spacing. 75 ground radials,1/4 wave long, under each vertical ,or 4.5 km of radials in total, and 50 sq mtrs of 4mm galv steel netting on top of the radials.I also use beverage antennas.

For 40 mtrs I use a home brew rotary loaded Moxon, (2 el monobander) built August 2011, which works very well, so I'm told by friends accross the pond.

My station comprises: Yaesu FT 950, Rode NT3 studio mic, Behringer VX 2000, Super Scaf HP-LP filter,SM7YES RF clipper, Challenger 3, Linear (GS35 Triode), an LP100A, DX Engineering: DXE-RTR-1 receive antenna interface, and DXE-RPA-1 receiver preamplifier, both for my beverage antennas. The vertical array, Moxon and beverages, are switched / controlled from the shack. Maximum distance is ca150 mtrs to the feed points.

Latest Radio projects, Autumn 2011 :

Building a 40 mtr 2-el monoband, loaded Moxon. Mostly aluminium. Interesting project, good results.Rotator failure/replacement, after 18 years of fault free use.Purchased a new Create RC5A-3P heavy duty worm driven rotator.

Latest Puch Maxi project Small jobs, ready for the summer.

Front wheel rim not quite true, try adjustment, or new rim. new float and needle in carb, otherwise all ok.

I live with my wife Gunn, and our dog called "Bosse", in the countryside in SW Sweden, 13 Km SE of Landskrona. Copenhagen in Denmark lies to the South West,on the opposite coast. Malmo, Sweden's third largest city, is 40 km to the south of me. There is a bridge, island, and tunnel, from Malmo to Copenhagen ( opened 2000).

Enjoy the hobby, best wishes.David
