My start in Ham Radio came at the age of 15. Licensed since 1973 when I got callsign SP8GTS as a Novice.

I upgraded to general class in 1975.

My first piece of equipment I used homebrew transmitter and a 10RT military receiver. Not much of a station, but I had lot of fun on CW 3,5MHz.

Graduated from Military High School in 1981 worked as a signal officer in Zary(South-West part of Poland), where I moved. There as SP3GTS over the years enjoyed with DX-ing and contesting. For this years I belong to several amateur radio clubs, including SP8KAF, SP5PSL and SP3KFH.

Two times, in 2004/5 and 2007 I took opportunity to work from Iraq with callsign YI9GT.

I am now retired. In 2009 I moved to a new QTH Biedrzychowice near Zary, where I’m able to install antennas.

My shack is a combination of commercial and homebrew equipment: IC-765, SB-220 with modifications, HM HF AMP 500W and antennas: 3EL ECO Yagi, HM vertical 160/80m, INV L, Beverages N/W and N/E. The newest RX antenna is a 4-square K9AY array. Current project is new Beverage antenna system.

I have plans to put up a 4SQ 80m array.

I currently operate 160/80m mostly trying to exercise my antennas and operating skills working DX Top Bands and contests.

I’m fortunate that my wife Zofia supports my activities.

Hope to see you all on the bands, especially during contests.
