My name is Michalis and I am living in a village by the sea, named Artemis, about 35 Km NE from Athens capital of Greece.

I have been started as radio amateur in the bands of VHF and UHF. I like to build my own antennas and I think that any radio station is as good as its antennas are. I am a QRP fun and I try to use the less power needed.

Apart from VHF and UHF bands, I use the 10 meters band and I love it !

My transceivers are:

Kenwood TH-G71 portable VHF-UHF

Kenwood TH-F7 portable VHF-UHF

Kenwood TM-V71 mobile VHF-UHF

Ranger RCI 2950dx Dual Band 24-28 MHz, 10 Watts at AM, FM and 25 Watts at SSB

My current antennas are:

X-700 Diamond VHF-UHF

Home made inverted Vee dipole for 10m

Sigma Skip Master (Vertical 5/8 wave for 10m)

Recently, I use a linear amplifier 100 Watts thanks to my friend Theodore, SV1QXX. It helps me a lot especially at contests and pileups when it's nearly impossible working almost QRP, to pass through strong signals.

My other (earlier than ham radio) hobby, has to do with photography.

You are welcome to my blog, www.chobesplace.com where you can see photographs but not only ! You can also refresh your Greek language ! :)
