o «Τυχερός Μπάρμπα Γιώργης»,
παρατσούκλι που πήρε από το πλήρωμά του μετά τη ναυμαχία της «Έλλης» στις 3/16 Δεκ. 1912.

Year 2012: Re-activation from Friday, Oct. 05, 2012 till to Sunday Oct. 08, 2012 cellebrating eith the Hellenic Navy.

Thursday morning, 04 Oct. 2012 we had the honour to visit us on the Battleship G. Averof, the President of Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias and the leaders of the Hellenic forces during a huge ceremony of Hellenic Navy.
After 60 decades years the historical old transmitter of battleship G. Averof works again for a special transmission to the Hellenic Navy fleet, transmitted a message of the President of Greek Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias.
We had the all the Greek television channels to cover this event in national wide transition & we demonstrate to the “President” the radio amateur service.

The Radio Amateur Association of Greece (www.RAAG.org) will activate the special call sign "SX100A" by participating in the celebration for the 100 years from the first day in which the Historic Battleship "Georgios Averof" joined the "Hellenic Navy".

The operation will take place from the Radio Room of "Georgios Averof" from Friday 2nd December 00:00 till Sunday 4th December 24:00, 2011.

Some of the radio amateurs who are going to join the event will be: SV1GE John - SV1KU George - SV1MF Markos - SV1RP George - SV2FWV Takis - SV1GRM Theodoros - SV1GYG Ioannis - SV1HER Sotirios - SV1JCZ Daniel -SV1QN, SV1RK, SV1AER, SV1AIN, SV1BDO, SV1CDN,SV1CDY, SV1CEI, SV1CNY, SV1DVZ, SV1EAG, SV1EEM, SV1EML, SV1FJF, SV1GSP, SV1GSV, SV3ICK, SV3IEG, SV1IXY, SV1JFT, SV1JGW , SV1OBY .(operators list grow up every day).

Visitors may see the Battleship "Georgios Averof" in Trocadero marine park in Paleo Faliro, near Athens, where it is currently berthed.
