September 2015

Finally got the Mosley 33AW in the air.  Still working out the bugs.

Thinking about selling all of my excess gear here, to put on a new KPA500 for my second station.

I got all of my Watt Meters, basically the Elecraft W2 and a Power Master II and I like them both but LOVE the Power Master II.  I think I will sell the W2 and eiother buy another Power Master II or put the money toward the KPA.

August 2015

Brought my new Flex 6500 back from vacation with me.  I love it even more than the 6300.  I was going to sell the 6300, but I think I am going to hold onto it and just have two stations.  I purchased a couple different Watt Meter options to be intergrated into the stations with DDUtil.  I got a Power Master II and a Elecraft W2 meter.  I want to see which I like best, then I will buy another one for the other station.  The Pixel continues to work well at 40M, I pushed it up 4 more feet to give it some seperationg from some of the metallic objects in the area.  Seems like that made alittle difference.

Next purchase is going to be a Elecraft KPA500 Amplifier for one of my stations.  They are as hard to find used as Hen's teeth.

Tried the SCC RTTY contest with Writelog software, but I could not figure out the total interface, so I went back to HRD with DM780 and logged about 56 contacts.  It was fun, but I really need to see someone use the Writelog and MTTY package so I understand the flow.

June 2015

Got my Pixel Technologies RF PRO-1B (See info and review below) receive antenna today.  First impressions after 1 hour of use is WOW.  That is only on 20M too.  I am impressed and cant wait to try out different modes and bands, but so far it has given me alot more JT8 stations than I have had in previous days.

May 2015

Got another firmware upgrade with the Flex 6300, and it jsut keeps getting better and better.  ATU tuning now has memories.  I want a 6500, but I will have to save for that one, as I am not selling the 6300.  I observed some RTTY action going on last week, so I jumped in and made some contacts.  I really enjoyed that.  I need to get MTTY and a good logger installed so I can try come contesting on RTTY.

I have my Flex 6300, Palstar HF Auto Tuner, Acom 1010 Amplifier and Yaesu rotator and just waiting for a good time to get everythign installed. I am using the Flex barefoot with the SteppIR vertical and it seems to be be doing really well on 20M.  Not having any luck on 15M though.  15M is not as good as 20M, but I am getting some contacts on there.  I finally installed WSJT-X and love the JT9 mode.   I am filling the logbook now with those contacts.

My Pixel Technology RF PRO-1B Receive Antenna (Now Inlogis https://inlogisinc.com/products/amateurham-radio-antennas/ham-amateur-radio-antennas) is being shipped, so I should have that when the plane arrives.  I cant wait to get that put up and see how it receives over here.  I expect it to take me to a whole new level.  Here is the link to the eHam reviews on it.

Take care...73

Mike
