The plan of strengthenings of a fortress including Mikhaylovskaya batteries, the engineer-colonel K.I.Byurno sent to Sevastopol has developed in 1834. It was under construction of the limestone extracted in stone quarries of the Kilen-beam. In 1846 the basic civil work have been completed. Represents П-shaped by way of the two-story volume consisting of the central case and lateral wings, located to them under a corner in 100 degrees. Length of the battery (fort) of 205 meters (with flanks), thickness of an external wall of 1,8 meters. In a rear part (Gorgi) there was a defensive wall with Row. Internal corners of domestic facades were adjoined by two 3-Circle towers-Barbets with embrasures (one was kept only). On battery plased two kernel-heat ovens have constructed furnaces for 24-pound kernels. A lay-out of internal premises for staff of the battery is Anfilads, adjacent casemates on both circles are connected among themselves by a corridor. Interiors of the battery, despite of significant losses and reorganizations, basically also have nowadays kept the protogenic kind. At the moment this is a historic military complex  Mikhaylovskaya battery  - a branch of the National Museum of Military History of Ukraine. But every day at midday the sound gun shot which is made from Mikhaylovskaya battery is heared.

Built in the years 1807-1811 under the direction of Major-General in order to Harting defense fortress in the north. It has the shape of an octagon with sides of 170 to 210 meters. At the four corners has a small outgoing bastions flank security for the organization. Strengthening had three gates - Simferopol, Sevastopol, and Inker-Mansky, was surrounded by a moat with stone facing escarpment and counterscarp, limestone, folded cloth. The width of the preserved part of the pit 5.4, depth - 3.6 meters. In strengthening were barracks for military personnel, powder magazines and storeroom. The garrison consisted of 3919 people during the Crimean War, was appointed commandant of strengthening post-captain, then Rear Admiral F.D. Bartenev, whose name is still called a part of the North side of the street between Chelyuskintsev and Fraternal cemetery. In service building had 47 guns, 23 of them - a small caliber. Built excluding areas with unfavorable shape and poorly armed, it is, however, the Allies seemed formidable fortification that after Alma battle decided not to attack the city from the north, and, rounding the Sevastopol bay, went to the southern side. After the Crimean War strengthening used for warehouses, in 1900, its territory fortress built barracks engineer company. In defense of Sevastopol 1941-1942, there was established stronghold under Senior Lieutenant A. Pekhtin. Three days in June 1942, there was an unequal battle with a superior enemy.
