First licensed as amateur radio operator in December 2003 with call sign V8MQM, Standard class. In 2007 upgraded to Advance Class with new call V8AQM. With the new AiTi call sign allocation, change to V85TX in 2010.

• Member of American Radio Relay League (ARRL) since 2007.
• Member of Persatuan Gemilang Daerah Tutong since its establishment in 2004.

Amateur Radio Experience and activities involved;

Responsible in setting up the GEMILANG Radio, one of the Section of Persatuan Gemilang Daerah Tutong (GEMILANG) in 2004 as its First Chairman. From a barely know group of ham united in QRG 144.125mhz simplex, GEMILANG Radio had developed into one of the most active agent of GEMILANG and Amateur Radio promoter in Brunei Dasussalam.

Had been working with AiTi in promoting amateur Radio. In 2009 during the flood and Landslide Disaster, Leading GEMILANG Radio group in providing emergency communication to the Bukit Teraja Rumah Panjang, Ulu Kuala Belait. The 2 nights Operation establishing communication was a very challenging operation as it was our first call out providing Radio Communication in remote rural areas that was inaccessible by road due to flooding. The TelBru Communication Tower was washed down by a landslaide thus cut away the communication to the Teraja Rumah Panjang. Left the area upon temporary provision of Satellite Telephone to the Rumah Panjang’s Head.

Through GEMILANG Radio, had lead to provide communication services to Primary School activities in Tutong in their cross country events. Frequent flood in Tutong had call out the service of Radio Communication. Although too small to be recognized by some, but all were done in the spirit of togetherness with sincerity and the spirit of Ham.

In GEMILANG Radio, had successfully carried out Ham activities such as 2Metre Net, Foxhunting (ARDF), HF Dxing, HF Contesting. Had been successfully build 2 repeaters for GEMILANG, ham style. A HAM elmer in Gemilang amateur radio classes for candidates sitting for AiTi RAE. Had been praised for patient in teaching HAM to the RAE candidates whose knowledge of technical was almost none.

Had his first HF antenna, homebrewed and had acquired substantial contacts with it. Even participate in the CQ WW contest with a Homebrew antenna. Among the most satisfying achievements in Amateur Radio is the DXCC 20M Phone Award which was obtained in 2009, after about 2 years working on HF bands. Other award achieved; WAC and IARU region III Gold Award.

• 1^st Place Oceania at the Oceania CQ DX contest in 2008 SOLP 20M,
• 2^nd place Oceania WPX Contest 2009 SOLP All Band;
• 2^nd Place Oceania WPX Contest 2008 SOLP 20M;
• 2^nd place Oceania CQ WW DX contest 2007 SOLP 20M;
• 2^nd place Oceania CQ WW DX contest 2008 SOLP 15M;

Work & Career;

Started a career as a Secondary Economics Teacher in 1993 and join the Diplomatic Service in 1994 till 2003. Between 1997 to 1999, was posted to Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran. Left the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in February 2003 and joined the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company in the Human Resource Department. At present, is assigned to Brunei LNG Sdn . Bhd. as Head of HR Planning and Development.
