Scottish. Plays banjo. Builds wind farms. Blogs at We Saw a Chicken … and Numpty's Progress.

Licensed since March 2011 (after reading No ham radio for old men. on MetaFilter).

I mostly work digital modes, preferring PSK. I do some CW, too.

You can also contact me via this form, or on Twitter as scruss. Radio-only tweets are as VA3PID.

QSLs

In order of preference:

  1. eqsl.cc (AG)
  2. LoTW
  3. qrz.com
  4. by mail: I really would prefer not to receive cards by mail. This is mostly because I will not be sending any out, and I don't want to disappoint you.

Note that, if you really have to have a QSL card for competition confirmation, I can send you a digitally signed PDF; e-mail me for details. I outline the process for making these here: Creating secure digital QSL cards with your LoTW certificate.

Setup

HF (80—10m):Yaesu FT-857D → LDG YT-100 tuner → Maple Leaf Communications Mini-G5RV, shallow inverted-V, centre 5.75m.
VHF/UHF: Yaesu FT-857D → Maple Leaf Communications J-Pole.
Modem: SignaLink USB.
HT: Kenwood TH-D72.

Memberships

Scarborough Amateur Radio Club, RAC, ARRL and the Feld Hell Club (membership FH 3511).

PY2KW, Nelson Pala was a phys. ed. teacher at Avare' C.E.E.N.Cel. Joao Cruz High School. He eventually became the principal and was admired by parents and students. He taught me and other students the first steps of marching band, volleyball and in the art of Ham Radio.
