Picture above shows VE1CHW on the "long wire" the helicopter is a S61N, on my way to an other S61N broken down on a heli-deck   with a DC power problem.

Amateur radio interest started at a young age, nearly all neighbors where radio hams we lived in a town house between PA0EY and PA0YA (PA0EY lived beside PA0XB) 800 meters in front of the house a MW umbrella antenna (top loaded vertical) to the right the antennas of Radio Nederland Wereld Omroep (RN). My dad PA0WE main interest was home brewing, the only factory equipment came from the surplus store and later from Heath-kit. I have had the following calls PD0AUU,PE0RWE,VE7BXW,VA2CHW and VE1CHW. Mostly interested in DX QSO,s (not to much into 59 73 my info at QRZ.com stuff). Our QTH is located 30 KM from Halifax on a little hill, operating mainly with the Elecraft K3 a Drake L4B or CMC BH30 into a Tennadyne T11 or an open wire fed 2x20 meter dipole both antennas at about 380 FT ASL.Portable QRP operation is with a Yaesu FT 817. When not playing with the radio,s I am building a home build aircraft the Zenith Aircraft STOL CH 701.
