* * * Born in 1938 in Italy, on the island of Ischia, world's largest concentration of hot springs and spa resorts (Gulf of Naples). He grew up as a wine maker. Resident of Canada since 1959, in Laval, Qc since 1961.

Journeyman electrician (Interprovincial endorsment since 1971); lifetime member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). Has worked in two canadian provinces and several american states. Is currently member of the national committee for the updating of the (Canadian) Interprovincial certification requirements (for electricians)...

Vittorio speaks also french, italian and some spanish. Can read greek, german, portuguese... He was an avid shortwave listener during the sixties, the seventies and early eighties, and has thus collected over 40 national/international broadcasters qsl cards, and several others from time signals namely...

Ham licensed (basic/10wpm) since 1984; Advanced (12wpm) since 2000. Active on HF/SSB since May 2002. Uses only home made antennas, namely: 1) a three-way inverted V system, controlled by relays at the feed point, tuned for 40m, 15m and 6m. (outboard from the 40ft tower). 2) (With feed point at 12mt/37ft), a half wave (easy slope) inverted V for the 80m (his house sits on a large lot 70ft by 175ft, i.e. 22 by 60mt), mounted on a narrow A frame fastened to a maple tree. 3) Half slopers for the 160m, the 20m, the 17m. A wire Moxon for 10m.

Loop yagis for 2mt, 1.25mt and 70cm. Last addition, April-08, a "swiss yagi" for 6mt. Also vertical Moxons for 2m and 1.3m-fm. Rigs: 1) IC-746-PRO. 2) IC-706MKIIG (hf, vhf, uhf, all mode), used mainly as camping portable. 222mhz transverter out of vintage 10mt monobander; Some new and vintage rigs for 144, 430, and 222mhz(fm). 12 volt supply is normally drawn from deep cycle batteries charged from line and from solar panels/mini generators. No external tuners, no amplifiers, and except for vhf/uhf, no beams/rotors... ***

***Other special interests: 1) Naturism: as president of the Quebec naturist Federation, in 1992 he represented Canada at the International Naturist Federation Convention. His quest for clothes-free environnments has lead him (and companion ladies) to mediterranean Europe, to the Caribbeans/Central America/Mexico, and USA/Canada, coast to coast and north to south. In the process he has produced numerous travel logs, reports and pictures, featured in several naturist magazines, such as Naturist Life International, Naturally, Nude & Natural, Going Natural, Au Naturel/Naturisme Quebec, Info Naturista etc. 2) Photography: Member of a local association, sponsored by the municipality: Group exhibits, mainly on city premises (namely Art Centre, park pavillions, libraries, historic buildings); contests etc. 3)Van camping: Since 1974 he has camped first in a "capped" pick-up truck, and then in self modified commercial vans. As a retiree endeavor Vittorio works on call as extra and background performer for the movie and television industry. He can be seen namely, holding the umbrella and a wearing a brim hat (that the kid flips away), in the fifth episode (Wind of Passion) of the SOLSTROM (SOLAR WIND) series, to be screened (also worldwide) Fall 03/Winter 04 on the BRAVO network (USA) and CBC/RC in Canada. In Canada only, he is in several episodes of the television series CIAO BELLA, as well as the IL DUCE CANADESE and THE TOURNAMENT miniseries, also on CBC/RC. In movies he has worked in THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW; (Steven Spielberg's) THE TERMINAL; In BABY FOR SALE he is the older man playing cards at the baby's swap scene, and a passer-by in several street scenes * * *
