Alex Colquitt is an American ex-pat (WD9AND) who’s been living in Australia for the last 19 years. He used to take trips back home to see his family in the Chicago area, until he realized the changes in the American way of life were much too depressing. He’s now content to keep in touch with family by e-mail and has involved himself with the Australian-American Association just to stay current with United States affairs.

He’s been heavily involved in the Information Technology field in Australia and was one of the well known faces in the Canberra IT scene. He maintains the Bywong websites and mail servers as a hobby. He also owns and operates a tourist radio station in the Lake George region, which caters to the local boutique wine industry.

He lives on a small, forested 30 acre ranch in the Bywong highlands with his lovely wife, three horses, a dog, two cats, a multitude of hungry kangaroos and a menagerie of wild bird species.

Aside from dabbling in alternative energy sources and the construction of large, wire antenna arrays, his passions are his woman, motorcycles, cooking, amateur radio, photography, red wine and local politics… just about in that order.

The motorcycle in the picture is his newest toy, a Yamaha Fatboy Look-a-Like. He thought it'd be a good idea to spend some of that money he made from the local power company.

Alex runs the Special Event Station VK1AC to commemorate just about anything he fancies... i.e. Pearl Harbor Day, The Queens Birthday, 4th of July, The Battle of Long Tan, The Siege of Khe Sanh, etc... Please check the web page for details of current Special Events.

Try to contact VK1AC before the local Sun passes the yardarm as he's prone to cracking open a bottle of the local produce at noon, his local time.
