About me:

I was first licenced in 1984 whist at high school, and have enjoyed many years working DX, contests, ragchewing and portable operation. With my work I've travelled to many countries and have been able to operate portable with my old FT-817. I returned to VK3 in 2006 after almost 4 years living in Sweden where I operated as SM0YKS.

My station comprises an IC7600, AL-811H amplifier and antenna is 40mtr ½ wavedipole at 14 mtrs high fed with open line. I have a KX3 - for portable and QRP work, and I am also a frustrated homebrewer - I hope that in 2013 I can finish a few projects that are on the go and have some fun with home built gear. CW and HF is my passion and probably where I spend most of my time, but I do enjoy a long ragchew on SSB as well. I keep an FT-101E for nostalgia - one of my first radios was the 101 and its fun to fire it up from time to time and recall my early days on the air.

After many many years I've finally pulled finger and am chasing my DXCC - so if you receive a QSL request, please reply! Especially for any QRP contacts; obtaining DXCC QRP from VK is rather a challenge. I am also a FISTS member (#9085) so please give me a call if you hear me!

I am a keen DXer and enjoy being on the busy end of a pileup. In April of 2012 I operated YJ0VK as a part of the DXpedition sponsored by ODXG Inc.
