Graeme VK4CAG                                     XYL  Angie

Born in Suffolk, England in 1945. Migrated to Australia in 1954. Lived mostly in Wollongong, N.S.W. Worked in the electronics & Communications industry until retirement in 2006. Married Angie in 1977, have one daughter and one grandson.

Licenced in 1968 as VK2AGV. Callsigns since then: VK4UQ, VK4ZI, VK1CAG, VK2CAG, now VK4CAG.

My station was all homebrew back in the 1960s & 1970s. My first commercial rig was a Yaesu FT101 used mainly as mobile.

I was inactive for around 30 years while working & bringing up the family, and now back to ham radio since retirement in 2006.

All bands 160metres to 70cm. Experimenting with digital modes.

My radios:    Kenwood TS570S,  Icom 756 PRO 111,  Acom 1000 HF Linear amplifier,  DigiMaster Pro computer interface.  Icom IC910 for VHF/UHF.  SM1000 for FREEDV digital voice.

My computer:   Winlog32 running on Windows 8.1,  Ham Radio Deluxe.  DM70 digital program suite.

My antennas:    3-element Steppir with extra 6 metre element on a 15 metre one-man tower (electric winch lowers antenna to ground),  double extended zepp  (doublet)  on 80 metres, dipoles on 40 metres & 160 metres at 20 metres high.  Various other wire antennas.

I live on a country property surrounded by farms and bushland with abundant wildlife.  There is no manmade QRM & no antenna restrictions making it a great location for working DX.

Chasing new countries & islands for DXCC and IOTA programs.

Tally as at  January 2016:    DXCC worked = 314, confirmed = 310     ***  5 band DXCC  800+  ***

                                            IOTA worked = 467, confirmed = 375

Thank you all who have confirmed our QSOs. For the others, I look forward to receiving yours. smiley
