Lions Club of Bangalore North (Then in District 324-D1 now in District 324-D6) started permenant project in Amateur Radio Service with its then 8 Amateur (Ham) Radio Licencees whowere also Lions Club members and have licenced Club Station VU2LCI after assisting in Orissa Super Cyclone aftermath, Gujarat Earth Quake, Mahanadhi Flooding and Tsunami Disaster.
The Club has now Two HF Equipment FT-757-GX and FT-840 ready to move with Amateur (Ham) Radio Volunteers who first respond to Emergency Communication which is yet to be recognised in Lions ALERT Program.
VU2LCI has lent these two HF for Special Event Station AT6MM on occation of Mahamastabhishekha Celebrations at Shravanabelogola from Jan 22nd to Feb 25th, 2006. AT7LEO at Tirupathi, Civil Defence - Safe World and 3rd Emcom - AT7CD, Esperanto Congress - AT8ESP, Bannerghatta's AT8WFF (1st - 8th Oct 2010), Field Day at Yercaud - Salem AT8FD, Mahaballipuram Lighthouses - AT8LH, Kadalur Point Lighthouse Centrenary AT8LHC, Surathkal Point Lighthouse VU0LH (7-22 Aug 2010) - Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary VU0WFF, Bangalore Amateur Radio Club Field Day VU2ARC/FD, International Museum Weekend AT8VTM (17-27 Jun 2011), AT9LHA Alleppey Lighthouse (August 2011), AT8LHF (Dec 2011) were further Special Callsigns where VU2LCI equipments were used.
VU2LCI in association with Lions International Stamp Club - India Chapter has been further making unique achievements in bring out Special Postal Cover and Postal Cancellations.
50th JOTA with Scouts Centenary was celebrated wtih VU2ARC in bringing out Special Postal Cover with cancellation with callsign VU2LCI on the Postal Cancellation
India's Amateur Radio Lighthouse activities was started with VU2LCI.
Hunting Lions in the Air Contest - HLITA is presently being conducted by VU2LCI since last few years.
