I was born in Muscogee County, Columbus Ga in 1951. I got interested in amateur radio because of a ham that taught an Electricity Shop which was next door to the Electronics Shop in the high school that I attended. He helped me study for the 5 WPM code and was licensed in 1965, as a Novice with the call of WN4JSM. Back then the Novice class was only a one year gig so I took the Technician written test and stayed a Technician until I became a General in 2000. I applied for and got a vanity call of WØCBF, which stands for Chuck & Barb (XYL) Freeman. To some of the locals around here I am known as WØ Chuckie Boy Freeman. I have worked here in the Kansas City area, for the past 34+ years and hold a General Radio Operators License with a Radar endorsement. I am a member of ARRL, Honeywell Amateur Radio Club and the Raytown (MO) Amateur Radio club. I also am a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and an Accredicated Frequency Coordinator. My XYL and I have been married for over 35 years and have one very gifted daughter. Simon, our Chihuahua, is new in the house and despite his small size seems to pretty much run the household.
