Near  Des Moines, Iowa. The IWC is an informal bunch of friends who
want to contest & DX... and use the WØIW club station for contests &

a contesting station brand new in Iowa...

I got interested in ham radio because...
I like contest & DX and love to experiment with radios and antennas..
Loved the thrill and magic of shortwave radio and old time radio shows since I was a teen...

My favorite thing to do in ham radio is... Because?
Working contests & DX and talking on my repeater and echolink...

My equipment consists of...
TS 2000 ic-756 pro 40m beam 20 m beam etc etc etc

I am a member of the following ham radio clubs...
ARRL & the  Iowa Wireless contest & DX club Local Echolink repeater club

I am most proud of the following accomplishments in ham radio...
Being an Extra class ham, and being on several Dx expedition around the world including Saudi Arabia, Guantanamo bay Cuba, Antarctica, etc..
I worked an ARES station in Puerto Rico during hurricane Hugo in Puerto Rico
in 1989 I also worked during Desert Storm out of a hum vee for 6 months when
I was in the US NAVY and Stationed in the Dessert shield & Storm which I was there for during all the actions.. I was in the US Navy for 6 years then came back home to Iowa...

I would like to try the following new things in ham radio in the next 10 years...
Help my wife & kids someday get there extra class.

When I'm not on the radio, you can normally find me...
thinking about building antennas & radio & club contest stuff online...

We have a handful of dedicated members who contest with us.

The IWC owns 2 wide area coverage repeaters on a 2000 ft tower near
Des Moines, Iowa 145.310- 444.675+ both pll 114.8 and both are
Echo link systems. #3897.

When in the area dial dtmf 911 to link either system together..uhf to vhf or vhf to uhf.
