I have been licensed since 1964 (Novice), soon upgraded to General (WB2CNG), some years later to Advanced, then soon thereafter, to Extra. In 2004, obtained 'vanity' call W2EG. I was inactive for long periods during the 70's and 80's before re-catching the 'bug'. Been active pretty much steadily from the late 80's.

In 2006, after retiring, I moved from Long Island, NY to a hilltop QTH in Albany County, NY (about 15 miles SSE of the city of Albany), and put up a 70' tower.

I am presently using a 3 el SteppIR on 20 through 6 meters, a 2 el OptiBeam OB4030 on 30 and 40 meters. For 80 meters, I use a sloping 'linear loaded' dipole (90' long). I have nothing up for 160 at the moment. I use an M2 2M12 for weak signal 2 meter work, though I must say, I seldom get on that band.

for the most part, I operate HF cw, with a bit of PSK and very little bit of SSB.

Present rig is a K3 and sometimes an Ameritron AL-80A, running up to ~700 watts cw. I also use a Navigator (US Interface). For 2 meters, I have an old Kenwoood TM-255A and an old Mirage B1016 'brick'.

I enjoy cw contesting (more often than not as 40 meter single band, low power), chasing DX, and the occasional ragchew.

I am a member of the Hudson Valley Contesters and DXers group, as well as Albany Amateur Radio Association.
