Thanks for the QSO. My QTH is 22 miles north of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my home town. I have been a licensed ham since 1980, first as a Novice, KA3FNW, then General class a year later, and a year after that became Advanced Class which I hold today. My current call sign originated in 1939 and belonged to my grandfather who was a ham for 50+ years and was my elmer. I was able to obtain my call through the vanity system and am proud to have it. The rig is a FT2000D. Other Rigs are Yaesu FT-950, Icom7000 and an old FT840.The antennas consist of a 3 element tri bander at 55 feet atop a Rohn 25 tower, a 500 foot wire loop for 160m and a ground mounted vertical. Also in the shack is a 811H and an ALS600 amplifier along with a Nye Viking MBVA and LDG Pro tuner. I work both CW and Phone. I have always enjoyed CW and also a good rag chew. My keyer is a Begali Signature and a Bencher paddle.I run a mobile HF station using a Kenwood TS 480 SAT and various ham sticks.
My shack is a stand alone building out back of the house, 16 X 20 Feet with all the comforts of home. It has a wood burner and electric baseboard heat for the cold months, AC in the summer, a flat screen TV and a fridge. I spend a lot of time in there.
I enjoy working DX and currently have DXCC on 7 bands and continue to work on the others. Lots of fun!
I am a 1986 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Geology. However, coming from four generations of plumbers, I became a licensed master plumber and own a mechanical contracting company in Pittsburgh. I have been involved in the plumbing and mechanical business for 25 years.
If You need my QSL Card just send an SAE, no funds needed, and I will return all QSL's promptly. I prefer LOTW . No EQSL! No Bureau
All the best to you and yours and I hope to hear you on the air soon. Best 73, W3ENM, BRAD
