First licensed in March 1962 as KN3SKB, then K3SKB after upgrading. Operated maritime mobile from the USS Independence CVA-62 (1966/67) and the USS Aucilla AO-56 (1969,70 and 71). I held a secondary license as KH6IMO while stationed in Hawaii (1974 - 76). After duty in Hawaii I moved to California where I held the call signs of W6TDY and KD6SQ and was very active during the STA for early HF packet operation. Then upon moving back to the east coast I held KN4JT and KE3JM until the vanity call signs became available at which time I reacquired K3SKB which I held until 2009 when I changed to K4SKB then recently I was fortunate enough to be granted the honor of acquiring the call sign W3SA which previously belonged to Bob Haase who became a silent key in 2009. I am an of the Mecklenburg ARS, Charlotte, NC, ARRL, SKCC 6842, SCARS 8709 and a cetified VEC for ARRL and WCARS. You can visit our web page at : I enjoy all mode of operation but do most of my operation on RTTY and CW. I use the N1MM logging software in an SO2R configuration for contesting.
