Received my ham ticket in March 1989. Loved DX from the start. My Uncle,WA4WXA,
encouraged me to get the extra class ticket to better chase DX. I enjoy
building wire antennas and have built many thru the years for HF. I built a
double bazooka once for 440 and it worked great, fit in your shirt pocket. I
enjoy attending hamfests and meeting other hams. Joined the Honor Roll August
of 1994. My rigs are the Elecraft K-3 and Yaesu 1000D. My
antenna's: delta loop triangle fed at the top. 282' of wire in the loop and
50' of ladder line into a 4-1 balun. 40,80,17 meters do not require a tuner,and Carolina windom. I have a 65' tower with a 4 element steppIR beam for 6 thru
20M. I credit my DX skills to KB4I,SK, who showed me how to DX and get them.
Other encouraging hams are W4QO,K4MJ,NN4E,AB4LX,N4PMG, and WB4BNT,Walt SK. My
favorite contact was Kerguelen Island DXpedition. I worked them on a rain
gutter in a restricted sub-division.

PY2KW, Nelson Pala was a phys. ed. teacher at Avare' C.E.E.N.Cel. Joao Cruz High School. He eventually became the principal and was admired by parents and students. He taught me and other students the first steps of marching band, volleyball and in the art of Ham Radio.
