I I Have DXCC-WAS-WAC-Rag Chewers Club(RCC),Old Timers Club, QCWA Life Member and ARRL Life member. SMIRK #243 and Ten Ten # 36359 Licensed since 1959 when I received my first license in New Jersey. First call was WV2OAF then upgraded to WA2OAF. Thanks go to Harvey Wasserman K2BOG, Steve Fried K2PTS (SK),John DiGiacomo WA2IBT (SK), and Roger Gordon KG4ULC (ex WA2BHZ).These were my Elmers. Served 4 years in the US Air Force and served in Viet-Nam in 1967 and 1968 at Phan-Rang AB and Plieku AB, Stateside Bases -Mc Guire AFB, N.J. and Loring AFB, Maine. After working 31 years in a Law Enforcement Position I decided to retire and move near the Blue Ridge Mountains here in Virginia and relax and enjoy Ham Radio as well as other interests. My station has been toned down from Towers with Multi Band Yagis, Monobanders, Multiband Quads, and high power amplifiers for all bands from 160 to 6 mtrs to a simple station consisting currently of an Icom IC-746 Pro (100 watts) and a Carolina Windom 40 (Radio Works) the backup rig is an Icom IC-735 (100 watts).I work 40-10 mtrs. I am enjoying Ham Radio like in the old days with the low power and simple antenna even though I have pleanty of room here to put up a large Antenna Array again with High Power. I find it more pleasuable to use my simple station now and still enjoy the fun of chasing DX as well as an occasional rag chew with locals etc. Favorite band for DXing is 30 mtrs I am there mostly. Will install a vertical for use on 30 mtrs shortly.
