-First licensed in 1952 as WN9QQN, Chicago suburban area. Passed General 2 months later.

-Ten year Long Hiatius for College, getting married, and going into the Navy Flight program. Then back to civilian life, joined Motorola and later reactivated my hamming in 1963,- as W9QQN earned DXCC in 1964.then amove to the UK with Motorola and reciprocal licensing created another DXCC opportunity - operating as G5ABA, -Achieved DXCC in the UK in 1966.

Returning home (Illinois) and formed the Northern Illinois DX Association (NIDXA) in 1967 with the support of W9BZW (SK), and Bob W9ARV (nw SK); along with many others. Extra Class call W9QN acquired, as a secondary call.

-Achieved DX Honor Roll in 1969 -5BDXCC #310 -1972; and 9-Band DXCC completed 2010- Life Time ARRL member.

Moved with Motorola to Florida in 1971- new call WB4YJE (interim) then applied for W4QQN in 1972 which I held until Vanity call W4QN available in 1997-(went low "Q")-

Formed the South Florida DX Association in 1974 along with other DXer's in the SFL area. DX and Contesting are my major interests and still short one (P5) for #1 Honor Roll. Working now on CW honor roll. Achieved Work All States "Triple play" award #118. If you have not signed up for LoTW you are missing a great service - wish more would use it.

-Retired from Motorola 1996 -Acquired Cubex Antenna Co in 1997 and moved it to Davie, Florida. Late in1998 I relocated Cubex and my personal residence to Jupiter, FL. Cubex was great fun, lot of new designs produced, and many customer and supplier friendships established. Sold Cubex 2006, and it has been acquired by Tennadyne Antennas, located in Aldo, MI. -Give Roger a call for Quads.

-Now fully retired again and enjoying it -The 2008 CQ Marathon score was 265 entities, and 40 zones for a score of 305. Did better in 2009 and 2010, all 40zones, 270 & 271 entities for scores of 310/311, 2011= 40Z+284 entities; 324 best year yet.

In 2012 CQ Marathon all CW, score 256+40=296, again n 2013 all CW score= 313, 2014, CW again but with less effort score= 304 and so far in 2015 CW, 242 including 39 Zones.   Join in, the CQ Marathon is great fun.

Club affiliation: NIDXA, SFDXA, FCG, and LARA (Lighthouse Amateur Radio Alliance) fouonded in 2008.
