I'm married to my wonderful wife of many years, Paula (a.k.a. KD5NCY). We reside in Fort Worth, Texas.

A paramedic and firefighter by training I changed professions after more than 27 years on the street and one too many injuries. Plus the lawyers and insurance have got their hands in to deep and it isn't fun anymore. It used to be about helping people. walking into their choas and trying to make it right. Now it is all about CYA and liability. While I don't miss being a paramedic full time I still do get out and work part time now and then to keep my skills and license current. I am employed in emergency management for a local healthcare facility. My ham radio interests include county hunting, public service/emergency communications, chasing DX and just plain rag chewing. I QSL just about every new contact. I have recently been bitten by the QRP bug and am trying to develop skills in that challenging area of ham radio.

I work about 50% of the time mobile from my truck. The rest of my operating time is split between a fixed station at home and as a portable station set up somewhere.

Mobile radio is an Alinco DX-70TH 100 watts transmitting via hamsticks. I use a home brew Buddipole for portable work.

Home radio is a Kenwood TS-570 100 watts to a G5RV up 40 feet.

I use a Yaesu FT-817 for QRP work. I am building my "Altoids" station, anchored by a Small Wonder Labs Rockmite 20M for QRP CW work.

Other interests include photography and model railroading (HO scale and On30).
