Started as a one year novice back in 1969. Then licensed again in 1986. Have held the call signs WN3OCV and KF5NU. My main interest is HF antenna system design and practical implementation. I am always putzing with antennas and I enjoy helping other folks get up antennas for the HF bands. Currently running an Icom 746 Pro and an AL-80B to a 40 meter DX Delta Loop. The Loop is open and fed so that it works well on 80 meters with tuned feeders. I also do QRP CW with homebuilt kits for 40 and 20 meters. I am the 2010/2011 President of the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club (BVARC -- pronounced Bee-vark) in Southwest Houston and Harris County. Check out the great BVARC web site at www.bvarc.org (courtesy of NU5K). Unfortunately, running the club cuts into my air time, so I am not on the CW portion of the bands as much as I would like. I am also co-chair of the Greater Houston Hamfest held the first weekend in March every year, at the Fort Bend County Fair Grounds. This is the largest Hamfest in the Houston area. Check it out at www.houstonhamfest.org I have fun giving some sort of technical antenna talk each year. Ham Radio, for me, has always been fun, exciting and rewarding. I hope it is for you too. 73.Rick -- W5RH
