W5YJ has been courteously licensed since the call was 5YJ except for the two World Wars when it went QRT along with the rest of the country. The first reference we can find to the club in on the fly sheet of 1934 log that refers to a 1925 contact. All the logs before 1934 and the move to the building we are now in were lost. Does anyone know of an older university club station?

I am the trustee and the current crop of members found me and the the rest of the faculy, staff and retired members at time we had a very low number of student membera and raised the station like the Phoenix from ashes to and are active group in community service, storm spotting and helping the Aero Space Collage retrieve their near space balloons.

I am very proud of this group for taking the reigns and forging ahead. They made mistakes and dissected them in a post mortem and developed better methods than I would have had I pointed out the error in their ways and stepped in an done things for them.

Even more impressive is their recruiting program that is continuing to grow their numbers so we can hopefully break the dry spells we have had now and then over the last few years.

The best part of it all is they are doing it on their on and only call on us old guys for was get resources than can't get on their own. And that's not often.
