Click for more detail... Was a Ham doing HF starting in about 1948 (W3DDF) and then radio operator in Army 1953-55 - mostly CW. Came home to finish school, go to work, marry, seed and raise a family, etc., etc. (you know the drill!!) ... and let license lapse. In Aug 2009, I spotted a vanity license plate, N7CW, in parking lot - visited with Ham and was instantly hooked! He, Bud, became my leading Elmer!! Tech license in early Oct. and vanity call and General ticket in late Oct. Member of Yavapai Amateur Radio Club and Yavapai County ARES/RACES. Have been a full-time RVer for more than 5-years, enjoying exploring and living throughout the western U.S., Canada and Alaska. Since September 2008, I've roosted in one spot, living in my 40-foot comfortable motor home near Prescott AZ which is about 90 miles north-northwest of Phoenix. I have a volunteer "job" as host of a beautiful day-use area adjacent to Granite Basin Lake and Mountain in the Prescott National Forest. Participate in community activities and mentor at-risk teenage boys in Boys to Men Mentoring Network. My revived Ham experience is great fun and, as a "newbie", includes a steep learning curve - you know ... phonetics, "reading" call signs, etc, etc.! Am greatful to more experienced Ham's patience, guidance and support!! I'm feeling my way into what will be of most interest - likely HF DXing and participating in some nets. Thanks to my Elmers, am using borrowed equip for now - Kenwood TS-530S, MFJ-962 tuner. With parts and help of my Elmers, home brewed a multiple center fed dipole antenna for 80/75, 40, 20, 17 meters, and happily accepted a gift of a Creative Design 730V-X V-Dipole for 10 meters. I often send and always welcome receiving QSL cards and will do my part! Thanks for reading and 73, Peter Last modified: Sat Nov 21 07:53:09 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
