Click for more detail... Hello My father was a Ham for many years and he helped me get my novice when I was 14. However I didn’t upgrade until later in life. I did continue to build electronic projects from scratch and many Heath Kits (many of you remember how much fun they were). After my wife & I moved from Ohio to South Carolina my Dad and I needed a less costly communication mode other than the telephone. So I studied once again and passed my General allowing us some nice air time and many other contacts for me. After retiring from Bosch Corp. I decided to upgrade again and passed my Extra class. Amateur Radio has always played a big part in my life. We have 3 sons and 5 Grand children. One of our sons, Mike (KC9LSE) is also a licensed Extra class and we keep in contact as my Dad and I did over ham radio. My station consists of two rigs an old but working Ten-Tec Corsair ll and Kenwood TS-2000. I also have an Ameritron AL-80B Amplifier and I monitor my RFoutput using an old Tektronic 2235 scope. I currently have one Hustler 4BTV Vertical ground mounted with 20 radials 90 degrees apart. Over the past years I have had the following calls KN8QHK, WD8AXD, N4NAI and now I have my Father’s call as a vanity. My XYL and I moved out of town and bought a parcel of land abut 6 miles from my old qth. Soon after I had a 30 foot free standing tower with a MA5B mini beam, stacked ontop is a M6 Yagi for 6 meters. I realy enjoy working DX. But never pass up a good old rag chew! 73 Jerry/W8KDK
