Biography

I was first licensed as WN9RGB in 1955 and became W9RGB in 1956. I'm an avid CW operator, a life member of ARRL, a member of the A-1 Operator Club, FISTS(11629), SKCC (9588) and FOC (1840).

I retired from Purdue University in 2003, holding the title of Associate Director of the Computing Center. I'm author of the widely used UNIX administrative tool lsof (LiSt Open Files).

My brother Dave, K6XG, and his wife Alicia, KG6LJ, live in Arcata, CA.

I QSL direct, via LoTW or via eQSL; I donot QSL via the bureau. For direct QSLs use the address of this QRZ.com entry; no IRCs or green stamps are required. My LoTW and eQSL logs begin March 1, 2008 and are updated after the first of each month.

When answering my CQ, unless it is a contest, please send my call sign. Otherwise I will assume you are calling a DX station on a split frequency and will avoid answering you.
