I'm 54 years old, and have been an amateur operator for a little over 4 years. While messing around with air traffic control systems and ILS for small aircraft, I became interested that C.W. was still used to identify beacons. These facts got me looking for Morse code applications used today. This led me to ARRL and radio licensing in early 2005. Tested in Aug and made General. Then in Nov. made it to Extra. First license was KC9IBL.. W9WE in mid-2006. That was my introduction to radio. My goal is to keep improving my C.W. and operator skills. If you have worked my station, a pleasure. My copy for morse is about like my Spanish, Hit and Miss, but lots of fun. In this day of ease, C. W. radio operators are a rare species. They have a drive for perfection, and seem to be very open to new friendships, as are all Hams!!! Glad to be part of the trend-setters!
