Picture above was 2009. The inset was taken in 1972. I was missing a lot of DX thanks to 4 kids (one is shown; probably begging to be taken for a ride), but at least my hair was still dark! The HK0AB card I'm holding is for a 1962 15 meter SSB contact with deleted entity Bajo Nuevo. I finally got it early 2009 to help me into 3rd in world on 15. Thanks to Bernie, W3UR, and Dale, W4QM. I hadn't bothered to get the 15 meter card in '62 because there were no single band awards yet! Heads up, guys and gals, work em all and QSL em all! You never know when you might need it!

I have been known on the bands as "Skip" ever since I was first licensedin1955. I became Extra Classin 1967. I have always held the same call, although Ialso heldW0HYA for a short time while in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, working for the old Collins Radio Company. (Yes I worked side by side with Art Collins on one project.) I have been a DXer my entire Ham career. Unfortunately I had an extended inactive period from 1965 to 1980, due to family obligations (as you can see), resulting in missing several important DX operations . . . Oh well!). For most of my ham career I was lucky enough to have the everlasting friendship of my hero and mentor, John, W9WHM, now a silent key. May he DX in peace with zero QRM/QRN and a constant supply of "new ones".
