QSL image for W9ZEB

I work for HP Cloud Services supporting the CI/CD tool chain as part of the Operations Automation team.  My wife (KC9QKY) and I moved to Austin Texas in December of 2011.

I grew up in Waukesha Wisconsin. I moved to Indianapolis, the home town of my BYL (Beautiful Young Lady) in 2001. I got my Amateur radio license In July of 2006. My Call Sign W9ZEB was my wife's grandfather's call (Bill Williams) before he passed away many years ago. Both my wife and my father in law thought it would be very nice to bring the call sign back to their family.

My Dad KC9IJA got his license in August of 2005 which prompted me to get my own. He is now NZ9I.  My mom (WI9VAL) formerly (KC9KAU) was also a ham before she passed away.

I upgraded to General on March 3, 2007 and enjoy operating PSK-31 primarly on the 20m and 40m bands.  I haven't had an HF station on the air since I moved to Texas however I am actively working to correct that.  By shortly after the start of 2014 my station details should be as follows.

  • Radio: Kenwood TS-850SAT
  • Antenna: Alpha Delta DX-CC @ 40' off the ground
  • Computer: Dell Precision T7400 (2x Quad Core 2.33ghz Intel Xeon Processors) 16gb ram.  FreeBSD 9.2 and Windows 8.1 dual boot
  • Software: Fllog (Logging) Fldigi (Digital modes) Flrig (Cat control)
  • Grid Square: EM10gd
