Click for more detail... While family obligations will always take priority, Amateur Radio is by far my life-long favorite hobby. I have been a licensed amateur radio operator since 1968, having previously held the callsigns of WN2IBW and WN2EKX. My interest in amateur radio was born via my Dad's interest in Broadcast band DX'ing. During the 1960s'I held the old Popular Electronics magazine-issued "callsign" of WPE2PYZ while also a member of the International Radio Club of America (IRCA). While attending classes at Archbishop Molloy HS, I "discovered" amateur radio. There, I met my life-long friends Ed Olszewski/WA2AHF and Dr. Robert Hickey/N2HRI (ex WB2SZZ). With Bob as my "Elmer", and while operating at Bob's shack as WN2IBW, my first (very shaky) 15M CW "CQ" was answered by JY1, the late King Hussein of Jordan. In the 1990s, I enjoyed HF DX'ing attaining Mixed DXCC, WAC, and still hoping for mixed WAS and DXCC on 10m SSB. I also operated in the ARRL and CQWW contests. However my favorite amateur radio contest remains the ARRL Field Day Weekend, which I've participated in with ARCECS since 1968. I serve as trustee for the Emergency Communications Service Amateur Radio Club/K2ARC, the "alter ego" of the American Red Cross Emergency Communications Service(ARCECS)/WB2QBP, having been a member of ARCECS since August, 1967, having held just about every elective and appointed office, including President (10 Terms). I have proudly served as an Assistant Director to the Hudson Division of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), having done so since 1996. Since 2000, I helped form MetroCor, Inc., a non-profit, incorporated organization that provides amateur radio spectrum coordination management, serving Northern New Jersey (save Hunterdon, Sussex and Warren counties), NYC, Long Island and Westchester County. I am currently serving on the Board of Directors, having previously served as MetroCor's Sceretary until 2002 and then as President until 2007. I still get great satisfaction from volunteering my services during times of natural and man-made disasters,as well as for public service events, such as the NYC Marathon (ran as well in 1993, 1994 & 1999), the Queens Center for Progress ("QCP") "Hike-For Health" and the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival ("HKDBF").
