Click for more detail... I got my novice as a teenager in 1968. My mentor W3PZK (SK) was an old-school build-it-yourself ham who taught me everything from cw to good radio manners. Thanks to him built a 10 Ghz station and a 750 watt HF linear while in high school, and went on to get a MS degree in electrical engineering. These days I still like to design and build equipment, mix Internet with ham radio, and work 20 meter DX. I am involved in emergency communications and encourage all hams to do the same. I am also an avid collector of old radios. My specialty is FM only radios (FM broadcast radios that don't have any other band). Visit my web site by typing "FM only" into Google and clicking on the first site. Every so often I publish an article on ham or FM radios, including articles in QST, CQ, and Radio Age. My current station is a Kenwood TS440S transceiver, a Heathkit SB200 amplifier, and a Butternut vertical. I also have a vintage station with a Central Electronics 10A AM/SSB exciter, a home brew 100 W amplifier, and a HRO 7 receiver. Update 2009: Now have two FT-100D transceivers, one for digital one for voice. Mostly operate my home made 100W SDR transceiver (Softrock-40 TXRX V6.1, DDS60 VFO, PA-100 buffer amp, SuperPacker Pro 100W amp.) Antennas: Butternut vertical (love it), home brew multiband dipole (90 ft, 80-10m), and NVIS 40 m dipole. Spent last year integrating Winlink 2000 into a hospital EOC network.
