Been a Novice Radio Amateur since August 1977, a General November, 1978, Advanced May 1982, and Extra May 1983. Have been a VE for the last 12 years, and an EC for the past five years. CW is my favorite mode and am a member of FISTS (FISTS #5666). Am 75 years old so don't do too much work on the bench with projects due to eye defeciencies. Used to build lots of projects. Built QRP and other rigs and got them all on the air. Had an HW-8 with more mods than I can remember. Now I am into computers. Enjoy this new computer "hobby" very much. Also into genealogy and presently beginning in the PSK31 mode. When time permits I get on the air, both CW and ssb. No "favorite" band. Work them all except 160M. 73, Joe

Update: 03-19-08. Last XYL passed away in 2000. Remarried. ZYL now is really a ham-illiterate but am working at bringing some knowledge. Hi hi. Don't have a tower or beam and any of my old wire antennas. Beginning all over again. Just put up a Buxcomm Windom and it has been doing really good. Have a mobile station in my Buick (TS-50SAT with full set of Hamsticks at my disposal on trips. Most drivers going too fast to do cw underway, like years ago. Oh well, will do cw at home on ham bands. Am a retired U.S.Coast Guard Chief Radioman. See my Internet email address. Other hobbies: computers, photography, genealogy, and reading, almost in that order. But ham radio is top dog.

An update for WB7TNH - Will be 85 in July 2008. Have only one all-band antenna. Never believed there to be such a thing in antennas. But the Buxcom Windom OCF antenna made a believer of me. ACROSS ALL THE HAM BANDS 80M thru 10M I get SWR's of 1.2 or 1.3 to 1. On ALL the ham bands. That is with an internal tuner on my TS-940SAT. My first QSO was answered after one call. He gave me a RST 599 report land I am satisfied with that. That Windom from Buxcum was the best investment in an antenna I ever made. 73, 88 Joe
