WB8RCR has been an amateur for 39 years. Although I really prefer QRP, and especially CW, I don't get much of a chance.  You see, I am the Section Emergency Coordinator/State RACES Officer and the Section Traffic Manager for Michigan, and the Great Lakes Division representative to the Emergency Communications Advisory Committee.  As a result of all this my operating tends to be mostly nets.  I get on the MIARPSC net (phone) pretty much every Sunday and I am NCS for QMN (CW) Friday Early.  I drop by other nets when I get a chance, and try to make the MiDTN (Olivia), MITN (phone) and MACS (phone) as often as I can.

Besides hamming, and a little homebrewing, I'm also interested in computers and photography.   I am a contributor to Fedora and have spoken at various forums around the world on Fedora and microcontroller development.

Although I was educated as a chemical engineer, I quickly got sucked into computers, and have been in that end of the chemical biz for over 20 years. I've hopped back and forth between the process computing and business computing aspects, depending on where the fun happened to be at the time. I have one lone professional publication, and two patents, both related to computing.  I retired in 2003.  I do have a number of amateur radio and microcontroller related magazine articles and conference proceedings.
