My first call, KB5LDY, was received in 1990.I worked HF from my office before or after ordinary duty hours with dipoles on the roof of a 10-story building.  The photograph on this webpage shows me on the vegetated roof I created 10 years ago on that roof.  I also operated portable for several years at sundry campsites.  I now setup a portable station on vacations working about 200 yards from the Atlantic Ocean for a week in the summer. I have retrired and now operate using an ICOM IC-7000 with a Comet CHA-250B vertical antenna in my garden. Since 1991 I have organized HAM readio communications for the Houston Marthon.Over 100 HAMS and support folks ontheCommunication Teamsupport communications for Race Officials, Pace vehicles, Water Stations, and SAG vans. We use 2m, 70cm, and APRS. I work State QSO Partiesmost weekends and seek certificates from Special Event Stations. I support the Harris County(TX) ARES group weekly nets and with field exercises and other projects.
