My Blog***************BIOGRAPHY*************************

First licensed in 1977 at the age of 13, I quickly became a CW fanatic. General class upgrade in 1978. Advanced and Extra class upgrade in 1990. Almost all operations on CW, primarily focused on DXing. I also enjoy contests. Since 2004 I am on digital modes. Started AMSAT in 2007, then weak signal VHF work and 160 meter DXCC chase in 2009.

Currently pursuing Honor Roll, one DXCC entity at a time. January 2012, 299 worked and 282 confirmed.

Previous operations include:

WD4ELG (1977-1978) WD4ELG/6 (1978-1980) WD4ELG/3 (1980-1986) WD4ELG/KP4 (1988-1989) J6/WD4ELG (1988 CQ WW SSB)

All logs from the KP4 and J6 operations were lost when Hurricane Hugo hit Puerto Rico.

*********************PERSONAL INTERESTS****************

The picture here is me with our American Quarterhorse, Max, who is always clowning around. He is posing for the camera. The horse is my wife's obsession, ham radio is mine. But I spend a lot of time with her and the horse at the neighbor's barn, and she helps me with the antenna farm.

Here is a picture of what keeps my stress low and keeps me healthy (besides the XYL). Many miles of walks with three Golden Retrievers. So sweet and lovable, smart and loyal and friendly. Raj, Boomer, and Maggie...all rescued from Triad Golden Retriever Rescue.

Here's a picture of me at age 2, getting an early start on cutting grass so I can put down more radials for 160.

Antenna pictures: Hex beam 20-10 meters from Traffie Technologies, suspended from the trees (no towers allowed), and a vertical in the woods for the low bands.
