M/WK2S

October 2014 Mini-dxpedition to UK.

Equipment: KX3, PAR end fed dipole, and J38 with homebrew leg strap.

Operated from Barnsaple, Devon and near Arundel, West Sussex.

Not many contacts but I learned a lot about getting equipment through airport security and about operating in less than ideal conditions.

Antenna strung as outdoor sloper in Devon and in hotel room in West Sussex.

Originally licensed in 1961/2 as KN1YCJ (Novice). Later K1YCJ (General). Still later relocated to NJ as W2HJJ.

QRT 1966 to 2012. Re-licensed as KD2BNA. Selected vanity call for short CW.

Base station is Tentec Omni VII with rotatable dipole for 20m, 15m, 10m, and 6m. OCF dipole for 80m to 10m.

Key is a Vizkey Camelback. Smooth and forgiving.

Portable station is Elecraft KX3. This is new to me and I am still experimenting with antennas and batteries.
