I have been involved in many different facets of Amateur Radio since 1991: DXing, operating awards, storm spotting, and even a few years as ARRL Emergency Coordinator for Bell County, Texas. My home station is a Yaesu FT-857D with a delta loop (actually a sloping diamond) currently in use for HF while I use a Diamond X50A 2m/70cm antenna for those bands. Upgrades to the station will occur as often as I can make them happen with finances driving them. I have several projects on the burner that I expect to complete: 1) One is to operate mobile from my car, as a pedestrian and from a bicycle! This has been delayed for several reasons, but I do intend to make this happen eventually! 2) I plan to operate in several different contests from several different venues. ARRL Field Day and Sweepstakes (Phone) will be done this year, along with other contests. More opportunities will happen in 2010. 3) I have resumed paper chasing for major awards such as WAS, DXCC, USA-CA, WPX and many more. I also plan to work toward some of the other lesser-known awards that can be found. 4) I plan to keep storm spotting more local than I have in the past. I intend to limit my storm spotting activities to mostly the Bosque County area but can help in the surrounding counties of McLennan, Bell, Hill, Coryell, Somervell, Erath, Falls and Limestone if needed. 5) I would sure love to work Asia on 40 meters to get my Worked All Continents on 4 different bands (10, 15, 20 already completed)! Current memberships: I belong to the American Radio Relay League, the Lone Star Amateur Radio Association, the Bosque County Amateur Radio Club (as an Officer-at-Large), FISTS (#12064) and the Straight Key Century Club (#228). Furthermore, I am an ARRL and W5YI Volunteer Examiner but I have not helped administer any exams yet. Let me know if you need a VE in the Central Texas area; I may be able to help! I have certainly enjoyed the friendships I have made within all the groups I belong to and I hope to continue them for many years to come. Anyone that might be interested in setting up a schedule for HF, 6 meter, 2 meter and 70cm contacts is certainly welcome to contact me. I will try to answer all messages as soon as I can! And yes, I DO QSL 100% by the methods mentioned at the top of the page. I enjoy another hobby: stamp collecting (or philately) with a slant toward Amateur Radio postage stamps and International Reply Coupons (IRCs) in addition to all the other stamps from all over the world. Anyone out there that shares this particular interest is certainly welcome to contact me so we can share ideas and more. If anyone is interested, I do have a Facebook page. You can find it here. Make sure to include your call if you wish to become a friend there! Also, visit my blog here and drop in a comment or two if you like. I would love to hear from you! I will soon get it updated, so keep a watch out! See you on the bands! 73 de Warren, WR1TX Last modified: Sun Nov 15 04:46:17 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
