Currently live in Seoul, Korea and operate as HL1/WX8C. I enjoy DXing, HF contesting and operating from various countries that I visit. Have had recent operations as T88OO, HS0ZID, JT1/WX8C, KH2/WX8C, and WX8C/BY4AA. Also, thanks to Champ (E21EIC) and Dej (E21YDP), I recently had the privilege of guest operating as HS80A.  Also, a lot of thanks to Champ for helping me with obtaining my Thai license.

Had a great time on the Palau trip and operated from the Palau Pacific Resort.  All direct and bureau cards for T88OO and T88YB have been sent out.  If you still need a card, feel free to contact me or HL1IWD for the T88YB cards.  We did make several hundred RTTY contacts, which seemed to be a new mode/country for many.  We are rookie RTTY operators, so we appreciated everyone's patience.

Due to recent limitations on my HF antennas in Seoul, I have recently been trying out the SO-50 and AO-51 "birds" using a handheld and handheld Arrow yagi from my apartment balcony or out the window, depending on the orbit location. I have managed to pick-up a number of JAs and a couple of HLs. My balcony overlooks the Iraqi embassy in Seoul, so I am trying to not attract too much attention with my satellite "balcony operation".  Update (7/14/2009):  Recently managed to put up a 20 meter dipole.  It is partially "blocked" by some surrounding buildings, but have had some luck on CW, PSK31 and RTTY.

In October 2007, we activated HL9BSA for the 50th anniversary Jamboree on the Air, operating from Yongsan U.S. Military Garrison in downtown Seoul. The event was attended by approximately 10 U.S. Boy Scouts, a number of adult volunteers and several Korean amateur radio operators who assisted with the operation. In October 2008, we were active from Camp Humphreys for the 51st anniversary JOTA.  You can QSL any 2007 or 2008 contacts to me.  Update (7/14/2009):  Plan to activate HL9BSA again this year (2009) for the 52nd JOTA.  Will probably operate from Yongsan U.S. Military Garrison and may spend a little more time on PSK31 and RTTY and see how that works with the scouts.

Several Seoul/Yongsan area amateurs have also activated HL9A a couple of times over the past year from a temporary operating location on Yongsan U.S. Military Garrison.  We only have a 40 meter dipole, so we have been mostly limited to 40 and 15 meter activity.  There are not too many HL9 stations active right now, but we are trying to fill "the void".  Update (7/14/2009):  Have now added dipoles for 20 and 17 meters, so look for us on these bands also.

Will go to Saipan for 2009 CQWW CW.  Look for KH0/WX8C before and after the contest and AH0/AH2Y (QSL AH0/AH2Y to HL1IWD) during the contest.

QSL to:  Harry Rudolph, PO Box 74901, MC481.KOR.019, Romulus, MI 48174-0901

or via bureau to: WX8C.  I also QSL 100% via LOTW.
