Radio club at Zrenjanin was established in May 1933, and was active from 1933 to 1941, but there was no activity during the WWII. In 1949 amateur communication started to be more popular, so in 1951 the first radio station on short wave was aired for the first time. Its call sign was YU1ARO which is later substituted with YU1AOP. As of today are YU7AOP and YT7P are in use. From the beginning Radio Club was active over HF bands, and later over VHF and UHF where they exhibited excellent results in various competition events. The club also had its own ARDF section which also performed very well over various competitive events. Radio Club had its highs and lows points during its lifetime, particularly during in the late 90's, mostly because financial difficulties.

Today radio club „Zrenjanin“ has its own shack, two antenna towers, a few radios of different type HF, VHF, UHF, portable and so on. Radio Club has 36 licensed operators, and almost as many unlicensed, fans of our hobby.

Club meetings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 19.00. Licensed operators may come to the club at any time. Basically we are doing CW, SSB and Digi modes on 80/40/20/15/10 meters, a bit of WARC bands. We also do VHF and UHF contests with modest equipment, without the high expectations for a high ranking.

The plan for the future: training of as many new radio operators, especially school children. For this reason, please if you have an old radio, equipment, (also in poor condition - we will fix it) anything you do not use, donate it to us in order to have as many active operators and fans of our beautiful hobby.

Thanks in advance.
